An 80-year-old Vader man was hospitalized Sunday after his SUV was struck by a motorcycle in Skamokawa Valley, according to the Washington State Patrol (WSP).
According to a WSP press memo, Leroy W. Brown was driving a 2024 Subaru Forester eastbound on state Route 4 at about milepost 28, north of the Columbia River, when he was struck by a westbound 2014 Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
A 1999 Honda motorcycle, also travelling westbound, then struck the Harley-Davidson. The incident occurred at about 6:25 p.m. Sunday, according to the memo.
Brown and his passenger, Carol L. Brown, 80, of Vancouver, were transported to PeaceHealth St. John Medical Center in Longview with undisclosed injuries. Both were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.
The operator of the Harley-Davidson, Tonia L. Pearman, 57, of Boise, Idaho, was flown to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, according to WSP. Pearman was wearing a federally compliant helmet at the time of the collision.
The operator of the Honda motorcycle, Douglas W. Hansen, 55, of Longview, was reportedly evaluated by medics at the scene. He too was wearing a federally compliant helmet.
Troopers reportedly cited Pearman for travelling at excessive speeds. According to the memo, no drugs or alcohol were involved in the incident.
Both the Harley-Davidson and the Subaru Forester were considered totaled.
