As the holiday season approaches with Thanksgiving happening in less than three weeks on Thursday, Nov. 27, the Vader Lions Club is partnering with the Little Crane Café in Vader to put together holiday meal baskets for South Lewis County families in need.

During the Vader City Council meeting on Wednesday, Nov. 5, Jason Dailey, owner of the Little Crane Café and a member of the council, announced those interested in signing up for a holiday meal basket can do so at the café — located at 110 Seventh St. just west of the train tracks in Vader.

“If you need help for Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas dinner, please sign up down there,” Dailey said.

The Little Crane Café is open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. According to the Vader Lions Club Facebook page, those looking to sign up for a holiday meal basket must do so by Sunday, Nov. 16.

“You will need to pick up your food basket from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Vader Assembly of God annex building on A Street,” the Vader Lions Club added in the Facebook post.

Additionally, those in South Lewis County looking to do some holiday gift shopping from local vendors will have the opportunity to do so, according to the city’s website.

City of Vader staff are currently organizing an indoor holiday vendor market and community bake sale, which will coincide with the city’s Christmas parade and tree lighting ceremony scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 6.

Vendor spots are still available for $20 to those with a valid Washington state business license, and $30 to vendors without a business license. Food vendor spaces are available for $45 and food vendors must have valid food handling licenses and be self-contained.

For more information or to reserve a vendor spot, email Vader city staff at vaderadmin@vaderwa.org with “Holidays in Vader” in the email subject line, or call Vader City Hall during its normal business hours at 360-295-3222.
