Police on Sunday found a long-missing Utah teenager in Oregon.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Salt Lake City field office said in a statement that the girl, who is 17, was reported missing from Garden City, Utah, in May 2025.
FBI officials didn’t publicly identify the teenager, but details of the case match those of the 2025 disappearance of a girl that received news coverage in Utah and nationally.
The girl was found in Oregon with a 39-year-old man who law enforcement took into custody. The FBI didn’t identify the man, say whether he had been charged with a crime, or share what city the teenager was found in.
FBI director Kash Patel indicated the case was connected to online “gore groups” — amorphous organizations such as 764, which use grooming and blackmail to pressure children into creating and sharing self-harm, animal-abuse and sexual-abuse content.
“To anyone using gore groups to target and exploit children: the FBI and our partners are coming for you,” he said.
