United Way’s 20th annual Power of the Purse returns Aug. 5

United Way of Lewis County invited the community to celebrate two decades of philanthropy and fashion at its 20th annual Power of the Purse, scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 4 p.m. at the TransAlta Commons at Centralia College.

The sold-out event brings together community members for a fun-filled evening featuring a chance to win designer purses and packages valued at over $9,000, all donated by local individuals and businesses.

New this year is the Dessert Dash for Dolly, where guests will bid on sweet treats from local favorites such as Dawn’s Delectables, Market Street Bakery, Sweet Dough Cookie Co. and more. Proceeds from the Dessert Dash will benefit Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library in Lewis County, which provides free books to children from birth to age 5.

Women United, an affinity group of United Way of Lewis County, will be raffling off a purse with goodies for anyone who donates menstrual supplies, hygiene items or cash to their Supplies Period or Fresh as a Daisy initiatives.

Guests will also enjoy a keynote address by Ashley Shirer, owner of Sweet Dough Cookie Co., who will share her inspiring journey of entrepreneurship and resilience.

The evening will be catered by The Crowded Kitchen, offering a delicious spread of bites and small plates, while Market Street Pub will keep spirits high with a full-service bar.

All proceeds from Power of the Purse will support United Way of Lewis County’s mission to lift families out of poverty and into a brighter future.
