United Way of Lewis County is inviting the community to the 21st annual “Power of the Purse” fundraiser from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the TransAlta Commons at Centralia College.
This year’s Western-themed celebration, "Boots, Buckles and Bold Impact," promises an afternoon of fashion, philanthropy and community spirit, according to a news release from event organizers.
For more than two decades, Power of the Purse has brought together community members to support local families while giving attendees a chance to win a collection of designer handbags, specialty purses and unique raffle items. Every dollar raised helps United Way of Lewis County continue its work to improve lives through programs that strengthen education, financial stability and health throughout the community.
"Power of the Purse is so much more than just a fundraiser for United Way — it's a celebration of the incredible women who make our community stronger every single day," Angela French, executive director of United Way of Lewis County, said in the release. “It is inspiring to see women from across our community come together to lift one another up, give back and make a real difference in the lives of local families. When women come together and support one another, remarkable things happen. I'm so grateful to our generous sponsors, raffle donors, guests and the amazing volunteers who make this event possible. Your generosity and support help United Way continue creating hope, opportunity, and meaningful impact throughout Lewis County."
This year's event will feature entertainment from local comedian Lynette Manning. Along with hors d'oeuvres and handcrafted cocktails, the evening will conclude with the Dessert Dash for Dolly, where tables compete to support Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, the release stated. The tables making the largest contributions earn the first pick from a selection of desserts.
Guests have several ticketing options: individual tickets, which are $75 each; table sponsorship, which is $800 for a reserved table, guaranteeing a group can sit together; or VIP table sponsorship, which is $1,250 and includes preferred seating, a charcuterie board for the table and two bottles of wine.
Community members and businesses are also encouraged to support the event by donating new purses, gift baskets or other raffle items, the release added.
Reservations are required, as seating is limited. Tickets and table sponsorships can be purchased online at www.lewiscountyuw.com/power-purse.
