For the seventh straight year, United Way of Lewis County will participate in Giving Tuesday.
According to United Way, “#GivingTuesday” is “a global movement dedicated to giving back, celebrating generosity, and inspiring charitable giving during the holiday season.”
Giving Tuesday will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 3, and is intended to create a day for people to come together and give back.
“In total, contributions to United Way of Lewis County have exceeded $40,000,” according to a news release from United Way.
Donations made to United Way of Lewis County on Giving Tuesday will be matched up to $5,000 by an anonymous donor, and local business partners such as Book ‘n’ Brush and Dawn’s Delectables have also joined United Way to offer give-back deals on Tuesday. Book ‘n’ Brush is also donating 10 percent of total sales on Giving Tuesday to United Way, while Dawn’s Delectables is offering $5 of every lunch special purchased that day to come back to United Way.
“Participating in Giving Tuesday is about joining a movement for generosity, and there are so many ways to do that. Whether you give your voice, goods, your time or your money (which will be matched up to $5,000 by an anonymous donor). Being generous is a way to lift families out of poverty right here in Lewis County,” said Debbie Campbell, executive director of United Way of Lewis County, in a news release.
