The City of Centralia has determined that the United Learning Center construction project will have no significant impact on the human environment.
Therefore, an environmental impact statement under the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 is not required.
Additional project information is contained in the environmental review record (ERR) on file at the City of Centralia’s Community Development Department, located at 118 W. Maple St.
The ERR can also be viewed at the United Way of Lewis County, 450 NW Pacific Ave., Chehalis. Records can be viewed or copied during regular business hours of 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Any individual, group or agency can submit written comments on the ERR to the department at the address above or via email to hhoke@cityofcentralia.com.
Additionally, on or about May 9, the City of Centralia will authorize United Way of Lewis County to submit a request to the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Seattle Regional Office, Region X, for the release of Community Project Funding (CPF) grant funds. The release of funds will allow stakeholders to finish construction on a complex that will provide early learning and child care opportunities, children’s museum, gymnasium, Boys and Girls Club, community center, and health care opportunities to underprivileged families in Centralia.
The total estimated funding needed is $16 million, $4 million of which would be provided by the CPF grant from HUD.
