Umpqua, Sterling Banks Merge

Posted

Roseburg, Ore.-based Umpqua Bank and Sterling Bank have merged, and that means some changes for local Sterling branches.

All Sterling Bank branches will assume the Umpqua Bank name by June at the latest, company officials say. The merger affects five locations locally, including Chehalis, Centralia, Oakville, Rochester and Winlock.

Umpqua Bank officials say customers won’t immediately be affected, as they will still be able to use their Sterling-issued cards and checks, and can also make loan payments the same way they currently do. Customers will still be able to bank online using their current account information, although Sterling  Bank’s website now redirects to umpquabank.com.

Sterling customers should expect to receive new cards and checks with the Umpqua Bank logo “in a few weeks,” according to the Umpqua Bank website.
