Centralia police located two suspects Tuesday night in connection to a shooting that reportedly occurred in a Centralia residential area earlier that evening.

Jonathan T. Maae, 29, of Tumwater, and Phillip D. Forbes, 44, of Centralia, were later arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged first-degree assault and unlawful possession of a firearm.

Both Maae and Forbes were scheduled to make preliminary appearances in Lewis County Superior Court on Wednesday, March 11.

Charges had not been filed as of presstime.

According to the Centralia Police Department, officers responded to an alley in the 900 block of South Pearl Street at about 6:56 p.m. March 10 after receiving reports that two subjects were shooting pistols at each other.

“Officers arrived on the scene and located blood leading to a house where one of the subjects was said to have gone,” a press release from the department stated.

After obtaining a search warrant, officers searched the house and reportedly located a firearm.

At some point, detectives identified Maae and Forbes as possible suspects.

Officers reportedly arrested Maae in the 900 block of East Locust Street. He was then treated for a gunshot wound to his arm at Providence Centralia Hospital, before being booked into the Lewis County Jail at about 3:27 a.m. March 11, according to jail records.

Officers reportedly arrested Forbes at his residence. He was booked into the Lewis County Jail at about 1:10 a.m. March 11, according to jail records.

“Detectives are still actively working on the case to figure out what led up to the incident,” the police department stated. “No further information will be released at this time.”
