Two drivers were injured in a head-on collision on U.S. Highway 12 near Silver Creek on Monday morning.
A gray 2004 Buick Rendezvous driven by Robert L. Sitton, 58, of Morton, was reportedly traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 12 when it crossed into the eastbound lane at milepost 80 to pass traffic and struck an eastbound 2009 Ford Focus head-on, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The Buick came to rest in the eastbound lane and the Ford came to rest in the eastbound ditch.
The crash was reported at 8:50 a.m. on Monday, April 7, according to the state patrol.
Sitton was transported to Providence Centralia Hospital while the driver of the Ford, identified by the Washington State Patrol as Casey L. Brown, 35, of Ocean Park, was airlifted to Tacoma General Hospital.
Unsafe passing was determined as the cause of the crash, according to the state patrol, which confirmed no drugs or alcohol were involved in the collision.
