Washington state troopers stopped a speeding car in Clark County last month – and ended up making arrests and a large drug seizure.
On February 27, troopers spotted a Dodge Hornet southbound on Interstate 5 going about 20 miles per hour over the speed limit, the Washington State Patrol reported. After stopping the car, “they observed two large black trash backs full in the rear seat and an overwhelming odor of marijuana emanating from the passenger area.”
The troopers found 11 grams of ketamine powder in the car, and in the trunk they discovered trash bags filled with about 160 pounds of marijuana, officials said.
Police put the street value of the drugs at close to $1 million.
The two men in the car, New York residents, were arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking. The Washington State Patrol said the men were traveling from northern Washington to central California.
The men, whose names have not been released, face charges of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and possession of ketamine with intent to deliver.
