The 1958 Centralia American Legion team that won the Washington state title 65 years ago is set to enter the American Legion Baseball Hall of Fame on Oct. 14 at Clearwater Casino in Poulsbo.

Back in July, three members of the team were on hand to throw out the first pitch at the 2023 state championship at Wheeler Field.

The squad was mostly built up Centralia players, but was the first to pull players from the surrounding county, bringing in two from Chehalis, one from Rochester and one from Morton.

After winning the state title at Cheney Stadium in Tacoma, the group flew to Billings, Mont., for the regional tournament, where they came in second place to the hosts.

Aside from the 1958 Centralia team, there will be eight other inductees into the Hall of Fame this year.
