Twila Ellene Bailey, 92, of Chehalis, Wash., passed away quietly and peacefully May 22, 2019. She was born to loving parents, Ralph Foster and Anona Foster, Feb. 14, 1927 in Seattle, Wash.

Twila graduated from Ryderwood High School in 1945. She went on to study music at Pacific University in Forest Grove, Ore. Twila and William J. Bailey were married Aug. 28, 1948, in Winlock, Wash. Together, they raised six children, Michael J. Bailey, Susan M. Bailey, Cecelia A. (Bailey) Shugart, William D. Bailey, Christopher C. Bailey and Mary B. (Bailey) Doerr.

She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, gardening, baking and caring for many animals. Twila also was a huge fan of Gonzaga Bulldogs basketball and the Seattle Mariners. She enjoyed many trips to Harstine Island and the ocean. She was also dedicated to St. Joseph Church and School for many years, including 40 plus years of playing the organ for masses, weddings and funerals. But by far, her greatest achievement of all was devoting her life to all her very lucky and blessed family.

Twila was preceded in death by her loving parents, Ralph and Anona Foster; and dear devoted husband, William J. Bailey.

She is survived by her son, Michael J. Bailey and his wife, Joselyn and his children, Andrea, Tully and Dylan (Matt) and Joselyn’s daughter, Ashley; daughters, Susan M. Bailey, Cecelia A. (Bailey) and Tommy Shugart and their children, Anona (D’Andre) Walker and Marques Shugart; son, William D. and Simone Bailey and children, Alexandre Higgins, Quinn Bailey and Chelsea Bailey; son, Christopher C. and Tonya Bailey and Brennan (Ashley) Bailey; daughter, Mary (Bailey) Doerr and Michael Doerr and their children, Jordan, Kendall and Olivia Doerr. She is also survived by her five great-grandchildren, Cole Bower, Aiden, Nolan and Brodyn Austin and Noelle Bailey Walker; as well as some honorary family members, Carol Davidson of Seattle, Wash.; Debbie Lansing of Centralia, Wash.; and godgrandson, Ronny Dolzena of Haiti.

We would also like to thank the amazing caregivers of Chehalis West Assisted Living and Sharon Care Center for their truly outstanding attention and love to our mother in her final months and days.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, June 7, 2019, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Chehalis, WA 98532. A reception will follow at the church Reception Hall. Burial service will take place following the ceremony at 1:30 p.m., at St. Urban Cemetery in Winlock.
