Twiddy to Lead Centralia College Women’s Hoops Program

Hired shortly after the school year began, the Centralia College women’s basketball program will be led by first-year head coach Tiffany Twiddy for the upcoming 2023-24 season.

Twiddy most recently served as acting head coach at Pacific Lutheran, and is a former South Sound Conference coach of the year at Capital High School in Olympia. She also had assistant coaching stints at South Puget Sound Community College and Black Hills High School, and a previous head coaching job at Shelton High School.

“Getting the opportunity to be the Centralia women’s head basketball coach means so much to me,” Twiddy said. “It gives me the chance to work with these amazing young women and help them to become the best versions of themselves on and off the court. It allows me to hand pick a team that has the mentality and character that represents our program's mission. Ultimately this team will not be about me coaching or any one player, but the we over me mentality of putting the team first.”

After an issue securing a coach before the winter season began last year, the Centralia College athletic department decided to suspend its women’s hoops program for the 2022-23 season, with Twiddy being hired around October to help the program get back on its feet for the 2023-24 season.

Before the suspension of the program for one season, the Trailblazers had a fairly successful run of late, sending multiple players to Division I colleges, and competing in the NWAC — finishing as NWAC West runners-up as recently as 2021-22.

The Blazers last won the NWAC West in 2019-20 with a perfect 14-0 conference record.

Twiddy has already been hard at work recruiting players for her program after a one year hiatus, including signing Napavine standout Danielle Tupuola.
