The Tumwater volleyball team bounced back from a loss to Ridgefield Saturday morning by sweeping Woodland, 25-12, 25-17, 25-22, in an elimination game to advance to the state tournament for the third time in four years.

Paige Henderson, Brooklyn Bonfield, and Chloe Henderson finished with nine kills each, and Tove Hugus added seven.

Maille Marty tallied 32 assists, while Lalie Betschart led the defensive effort with 20 digs. Chloe Henderson added 12 digs, and McKayla Clary logged 11.

It’s the second straight season that the T-Birds (16-3) will make the trip to Yakima, and they’ll be looking to place for the first time since they won the state title in 2016.

Tumwater will find out its seeding and first round opponent for the 2A State Tournament on Sunday. The tournament will begin on Friday.
