The 1-2 punch of Sarah Stevens and Ella Ferguson kept the Thunderbirds in front and to the top of the Evergreen Conference standings, combining for seven strikeouts in a 2-1 triumph over Aberdeen on Thursday night.
Already with the head-to-head tiebreaker, Tumwater (9-2, 7-1) has the inside track at an outright league title. It grabbed the lead in the top of the third on a two-out, two-run single by Brielle Womach that proved to be the game-winner.
Ferguson entered the circle in the fourth and left the bases loaded, stranded two apiece in the fifth and sixth before closing the door on a comeback bid by the Bobcats with a 1-2-3 seventh. Sophie Skillman recorded two hits for the T-Birds, as did Zoe Fields.
Tumwater has won three straight games and wraps a four-game week at home against Black Hills on Friday.
