Tumwater responds after loss, thumps Shelton

Ignited by four goals from Dylan Stevens, the Thunderbirds blew out the Highclimbers 6-0 in an Evergreen Conference boys soccer matchup on Wednesday night.

Coming off its first conference setback over 48 hours later, Tumwater (3-2-1, 3-1 EvCo) didn’t want to double the sour taste in its mouth.

And the T-Birds didn’t.

“We had a great warmup, a great pregame,” their head coach John Hayes said. “They responded excellently. I’m so proud of them.”

Stevens was a big reason as he was a key cog in allowing Tumwater to jump out to a 3-0 halftime cushion. It added three more goals in the second half, securing the highest tally of goals scored in its season.

Adian Aesbey and Gavin Coolio each scored for the Thunderbirds.

“They didn’t put the brakes on and just (went) through the motions in the second half,” Hayes said. “They put the game away.”
