Aberdeen hung around in Tumwater on Friday night, but the Thunderbirds were able to pull away in the second half for a 55-20 victory.
The T-Birds led by six after the first and led by 13 at half, but it could have been more if not for a fumble near the goal line in the final 90 seconds of the first half.
Tumwater responded accordingly in the second half, outscoring the Bobcats 28-6 the rest of the way.
“I was pleased with the way our kids responded coming back out of the half,” Tumwater coach William Garrow said.
Peyton Davis had an incredible night on the ground, rushing for 177 yards and five touchdowns on just 15 carries.
“Peyton ran the ball really hard today, and our offensive line blocked well in the run game,” Garrow said.
Gavin Varona tallied 62 yards and a touchdown on just two carries, Blake Heryford returned a fumble 95 yards for a touchdown, and Ethan Bello returned a punt 69 yards for a score.
Wyatt Chase tallied 10 tackles defensively, including one for loss, while Grady Wall logged 11 tackles.
Tumwater (6-1, 2-0 2A EvCo) will be at home again next week to host W.F. West in a matchup that will most likely determine the EvCo champion.
“Excited for our kids to compete,” Garrow said.
