Tumwater loses first game of season in first round of Districts

The first goal allowed by the Tumwater girls soccer team in well over 21 hours’ worth of gametime was enough to hand the T-Birds their first loss of the season, as Hockinson pulled a 1-0 upset at Sid Otton Field in the first round of the 2A District 4 tournament.

The goal came in the first half courtesy of Hockinson’s Division I commit Abby Dombrow. From there, the Hawks held on for Tumwater’s first shutout loss to a 2A opponent in over a year.

It’s Tumwater’s first loss at home in nearly two years, with the most recent coming on Nov. 2, 2021, in the second round of the district tournament — to Hockinson.

The Thunderbirds will play with their season on the line Thursday, back at home against Aberdeen.
