A travel trailer in the 1700 block of Winlock-Vader Road in Lewis County was destroyed in a fire early Friday morning.
The trailer’s occupant reported the fire at approximately 1:17 a.m. on March 7 as they were evacuating, according to Lewis County Fire District 15-Winlock.
Members of District 15 responded alongside members of Lewis County Fire District 2-Toledo to assist Cowlitz/Lewis County Fire District 20-Vader/Ryderwood.
“Initial reports from Central Dispatch advised that there was a travel trailer fully engulfed in flames threatening (another) structure. Dispatch also advised that the reporting party was in the next structure to the fire and was evacuating,” District 15 Chief Rich Underdahl said in an email to The Chronicle on Monday.
The travel trailer was fully involved when units arrived.
“The threatened structure was protected and suffered some residual damage, but the resident was able to return home,” Underdahl said.
The fire was contained in about an hour, with overhaul operations lasting until 4:45 a.m.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
