Officials responded to a train derailment near the Port of Kalama Thursday morning.
Dan Polacek, legislative and public relations administrator for the port, said the incident occurred at about 3:30 a.m., in the 100 block of Hendrickson Drive, just south of Ahles Point.
He added that six to seven cars were involved, with one car completely coming off the tracks. The cars were hauling grain and headed to the TEMCO grain elevator.
According to Polacek, the cause of the derailment is unknown and is under investigation by BNSF, which owns the tracks, as well as TEMCO. Clean-up is expected to take the next two days, which would include repair work on the track.
Troy Brightbill, chief criminal deputy of the Cowlitz County Sheriff's Office, said no injuries were reported.
Hendrickson Drive is tentatively scheduled to reopen by Saturday.
