Track Roundup: Napavine Boys Win in South Bend

The Napavine boys track and field team came in first out of eight schools in a 1B/2B meet at South Bend on Thursday.

The Tigers’ girls team came in third. Rainier took two second-place finishes, while Winlock was seventh for the boys and eighth for the girls.

Max O’Neill came away with a pair of individual wins for the Tigers, taking first in the 100-meter dash (11.42) and in the 200-meter dash (23.70). Napavine sealed the team win with its depth, with nine more top-three finishes.

In the girls’ meet, Morgan Hamilton won the 400-meter dash in 1:04.74 and the long jump at 15 feet, 5 inches, and Keira O’Neill won the triple jump at 30 feet, 7 inches.

Rainier’s Acacia Murphy won the girls 100-meter dash (13.21) and the 200-meter dash (27.96), and came less than a tenth of a second away from sweeping the springs, coming in second to Hamilton in the 400 with a time of 1:04.87. She added a win in the field to finish a busy day, finishing first in the high jump at 5 feet, 2 inches.

Hunter Waltman got the Mountaineer boys a win in the 400 (56.69), and Zander Peck won the javelin (144 feet, 10 inches).

Winlock got wins from Chase Trodahl in the boys 1,600 meters (5:14.88) and 3,200 meters (10:57.82). The Cardinals’ best finishes in the girls meet came from Victoria Sancho, who took fourth in the 100-meter dash (14.29) and Cali Scofield, who was fourth in the long jump (13 feet, 10.5 inches)



 Black Hills Drops Duals at Shelton

The Black Hills track and field team earned 10 wins in its 2A EvCo dual meet at Shelton but couldn’t come up with either meet, falling 66-54 in the girls’ meet and 87-35 in the boys’.

Ashley Harris came away with a win in the girls shot put (33 feet, 7.5 inches) and the discus (101 feet, 1 inch), while Olivia Cammack won the girls long jump at 15 feet, 3 inches, and went 29 feet, 3.5 inches as the only girl to participate in the triple jump.

On the boys’ side, John Buchanan won the 200 meters with a time of 25.26, and teamed up with Caleb Wagoner, Joseph Langan, and Nathan Glen to run an uncontested 4x400 relay in 4:23.36.

Mason Burke won a two-Wolf race in the boys 3,200 meters in 10:58.31, and Liam Wall won the shot put at 46 feet, 7.5 inches.

For the girls, Zaniah Robinson beat out three teammates to win the 400 meters (1:10.55), and joined Kirsten Beeaulieu, Adeline Rice, and Loralei Upton to win the 4x400 relay in 5:00.41.
