Torres’ go-ahead hit pushes Loggers past Mountaineers

Senior Rylee Torres picked the right time for her first hit on Saturday, poking a two-run single in the top of the eighth to give Onalaska a 4-2 road victory over Rainier to win its second straight game.

It marks the first time the Loggers (5-8, 3-3 C2BL) have won consecutive contests all season. The rally started with Braelyn Babb reaching on an error and Jaelyn Auman recording a single, setting up Torres’ heroics. Babb set down Rainier 1-2-3 in the bottom half to seal the win.

The sophomore right-hander fanned nine hitters and allowed just three hits to snare the win for Onalaska. It tied the game at two on an outfield error after Rainier (8-4, 3-2) scored two in the fourth on two wild pitches.

All six runs scored were unearned. Auman and Yuliana Escalera each recorded two hits for the Loggers while three different Mountaineers’ notched a hit. Onalaska faces Adna next week while Rainier battles Mossyrock on Monday.
