The Toledo Police Department has a new officer on its roster: Tarryn Carter, a U.S. Army veteran with experience in military police and reserve police officer work.
“It is very exciting to be a part of a community that supports law enforcement, the opportunity to be an ally of the Murder Missing Indigenous Women, Men and Children Movement and developing a multi-agency response team. This is an exciting chapter in my law enforcement career,” Carter said.
Carter took his oath of office at the Toledo City Council’s regular meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 16.
In addition to his military background, Carter previously worked for the City of Kelso and held a reserve police officer commission with the City of Castle Rock, according to the Toledo Police Department.
“We are very pleased with the recent hiring of Officer Tarryn Carter, his experience in the United States Military is a valuable asset,” Toledo Police Chief Duane Garvais Lawrence said. “I would like to thank the city council members, newly elected mayor and the law enforcement oral board for their assistance and support. This is another important step in what we are building here in the City of Toledo ... We believe the community of Toledo, business partners, school district and community programs will benefit and welcome Officer Carter.”
