The Toledo Community Library will host its ninth annual seed swap on Saturday, Feb. 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Seed donations can be dropped off at the library, located at 241 Cowlitz St. in downtown Toledo, through the end of January. Live plants can be left in Steamboat Alley the day of the swap, organizers said.
Grape starts and a few small trees may also be available for swap.
“Due to seed shortages, we can no longer rely on seed companies for donations. We will be entirely dependent on local donations this year, so I am asking gardeners to contribute generously … and encouraging them to save their heirloom seed for sharing and replanting,” said organizer Norene Wedam. “I’d like to see more gardens so more people can fill their pantries with wholesome food.”
The Toledo Community Library is open Tuesday through Thursday from noon to 4 p.m., and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
