Toledo can’t top Liberty Bell on the road

Toledo coach Grady Fallon kept things honest when talking about Toledo’s trip to state last year.

“We got whooped in Spokane by east side schools,” Fallon said. “That’s why we scheduled Liberty Bell.”

The Riverhawks made the trip east to face Liberty Bell on Saturday, and while they played well, they still fell short in a 67-57 loss.

Toledo kept things close throughout the first three quarters and entered the fourth tied at 45, but Liberty Bell’s Bodie Thomson took over in the fourth. He hit three of his seven three-pointers in the final frame, and he finished with a game-high 33 points.

Cooper Fallon had an excellent night for the Riverhawks, scoring 29 points while also hauling in 17 rebounds and blocking six shots.

Trevin Gale scored 15 points while adding nine rebounds and four assists, while Conner Hill added eight points. Eli Weeks tallied five points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals, and Joaquin Acosta logged five rebounds and four assists.

Toledo (6-1, 5-0 C2BL) will return home to host Morton-White Pass on Tuesday.
