The first eight batters for the Pe Ell/Willapa Valley baseball team all got the ball on the barrel of the bat to lead it to a 9-5 victory against Ocosta on Thursday afternoon at Grand Army Memorial Park.
Eddie Clements, Blaine King, Brody Aust and Deacon Green all recorded at least two hits for the Titans (4-2). They reached base 20 times in 31 plate appearances and struck out just five times.
Already up 3-0, PWV tallied another run in the fourth then doubled the margin to 8-0 with a four-run fifth that started with King scoring on a balk and finished with a Liam Smaciarz RBI fielder’s choice.
Dylan Andrews, King and Aust combined to dance around seven walks and an error to keep the Ocosta hitters in check in four of the seven frames. The Titans return home on Saturday for another non-league tilt versus Naselle.
