A California semi truck driver is facing a negligent driving charge after allegedly falling asleep at the wheel and rolling the semi on its side, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The crash was reported at 4:09 a.m. Tuesday at milepost 76 of Interstate 5 in Chehalis.
According to the State Patrol, driver Jaswant Singh, 30, of Yuba City, California, was driving a 2015 Peterbilt single box trailer north in I-5 when he fell asleep at the wheel and drifted to the right shoulder.
The truck hit the guardrail and rolled on its side, partially blocking the freeway’s right lane.
Singh was cited on suspicion of second-degree negligent driving, according to the State Patrol.
Drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
No injuries were reported and no other vehicles were damaged.
