The Morton-White Pass girls basketball team got back to .500 with its second straight with a 57-35 win over Castle Rock on Monday.

The T-Wolves led 18-12 after one quarter of play, but they dominated the second quarter to take a 42-17 lead into halftime.

Castle Rock was able to chip away in the second half, but the Timberwolves defense held them to just 18 points and preserved the lead for a comfortable win.

Kiera Miller had a stellar all-around performance, logging 11 points, nine rebounds, eight steals and five blocks to lead the way.

Her tenacity is contagious and she sparked a lot of good things we did tonight,” MWP coach Tim Roberts said.

Natalia Armstrong and Ryelin Wiedenmann both scored 10 in the first half and went on to finish with 14 points. Armstrong was a big reason why the T-Wolves defense had as much success as it did, as she tallied six steals and also added four assists.

Ava Gonzalez was excellent down low, recording six assists and three blocks.

“This group just continues to improve and work well as a team,” Roberts said.

The T-Wolves will be looking to get above .500 for the first time this season when they host Onalaska on Wednesday.
