Tigers topple Cardinals in regular season finale

The Napavine girls basketball team started fast and never looked back on Wednesday, as the Tigers cruised to a 61-24 win over Winlock.

The Tigers (18-2, 12-1 C2BL) shut down the Cardinals (2-17, 1-12 C2BL) in the first half, allowing just one point while putting up 38 offensively.

Winlock picked it up in the second half, scoring 23 points, including 14 in the third quarter. Kindyl Kelly had a strong final game for the Cardinals, scoring 16 points, hauling in six rebounds, and nabbing five steals.

Hayden Kaut led the Tigers with 12 points, while Hannah Fay scored 10 and Alexis Schutz added nine.

The Tigers are the No. 2 seed in the district tournament, giving them a bye to the second round, which will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 6 at W.F. West.
