The Centralia and Tumwater tennis teams split their six matchups on Friday afternoon at Fort Borst Park, but the Tigers were able to win the sets tiebreaker 8-7 to remain undefeated.
The Tigers won the first set in four of the six matches, but the T-Birds roared back to make it a game.
In the end, Centralia’s third doubles team of Samuel Parkin and Gavin Driscoll won the second set of their matchup, clinching the tiebreaker for Centralia.
“A win is a win,” Centralia coach Keith Hopkins said. “We’ll take it. Credit every athlete for contributing. Every point leads to a game, games lead to sets, and sets lead to a match victory. It was a full team effort today. Every point, game, and set mattered and we were fortunate to come out victorious.”
Tumwater will host Steilacoom on Monday, while Centralia will host Black Hills on Wednesday.
