Tigers Take Down T-Wolves in Straight Sets

Coming out strong before much more competitive sets in the second and third games, the Napavine volleyball team defeated Morton-White Pass Tuesday night at home in a sweep, 25-7, 25-23, 25-22.

Tigers coach Monica Dailey said her team came out swinging and firing in the first set, before committing some errors and making some frustrating mistakes, letting the Timberwolves get back into the game and push them to very competitive second and third sets.

The Tigers took a 10-2 early lead in the second, and immediately committed six straight unforced errors, and struggled with errors the rest of the night.

“Everybody was making mistakes, we just made less mistakes at the right time,” Dailey said.

Keira O’Neill had nine kills, five block kills, and six aces at the net, Morgan Hamilton added a double-double with 11 kills and 12 digs to lead the Tigers. Jessie McCoy and Avery Schutz chased down balls all night to distribute 19 assists, and Emily Kang served 100% with 21 digs.

After playing with so much passion in a four-set win over Raymond, the Tigers had a bit of a letdown at home as they await a big rivalry matchup with Adna on Thursday.

“We weren’t talking, we weren’t moving fast, we were really really sluggish,” Dailey said.

For the Timberwolves, it was the other way around. MWP made the trip west and came out flat, per coach Tammy Kelly, before finally picking things up in the second set after the Tigers’ errors.

“I was happy with the girls in games two and three, they played right with them,” she said.

Emarey Hampton and Natalia Armstrong continued their strong passing, with Hampton earning three kills and serving 100%. Chloe Kelly had five kills, six assists, and one block, Kenzee Mays had five assists, and Kelly Pakar added three kills for the T-Wolves.

The Timberwolves play Onalaska on Thursday for their next match.
