Facing an early deficit, and a hostile crowd, the Napavine volleyball team overcame several roadblocks in a four-set victory over Raymond on the road Monday night, 20-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-16.

After the Tigers dropped a first set, facing some tough calls, midway through the second set they flipped a switch. Storming back to win a close second set before dominating the third and fourth.

“It was off from the beginning, we struggled that first set, we had a hard time putting some things together and we got frustrated,” Tigers coach Monica Dailey said. “I was super proud of them, they dug deep and chipped away one point at a time.”

At the setter spots, Avery Schutz and Jessie McCoy combined for 33 assists and both served 100% on the night. Morgan Hamilton played another well-rounded game with 20 digs and eight kills, and Emily Kang added 28 digs at the libero spot.

Grace Gall had seven kills and 20 digs, and Keira O’Neill was again strong at the net with three block kills and 16 kills. Anna Thompson also produced three kills and three block kills.

“I’m so proud of my girls, coming out flat in the first set and a half, instead of getting down and turning inward, they got ferocious,” Dailey said. “It was the most amazing feeling ever, they wanted to win this game. I've seen bits and pieces of it over the last one and half seasons, but they turned it on tonight.”

The Tigers will play Morton-White Pass at home Tuesday for their next match.
