Despite a third quarter offensive showcase that made it a one-score game, the Centralia High School girls basketball team couldn’t complete the comeback and fell to 3A Shelton 53-48 on Wednesday night in an Evergreen Conference game on Ron Brown Court.

Heading into a vital contest with Black Hills on Friday night, with the winner snapping a league losing streak, the Tigers (5-8, 0-3) nearly erased a nine-point halftime margin. Brooklyn Sprague and Maddie Ahern each led them with 13 points.

Makenzie Erickson added 10 points for Centralia. The Tigers went 8-for-19 from the free throw line.
