The Napavine boys basketball team hit 80 points for the second straight game in its second straight easy win, downing Kalama 83-34 on Friday in Central 2B League play.

“It was just a good team effort, everybody played well,” coach Rex Stanley said.

Jarin Prather took his turn to lead the offense, hitting five 3-pointers and finishing with 25 points.

James Grose added 21 points, crossing the 1,900-point mark for his career with his first basket of the day. He also dished out five assists.

Cal Bullock and Cayle Kelly both scored 10 points, and Kelly logged seven assists.

But for all the offense the Tigers boasted, they turned things into a blowout with their defense, holding the Chinooks to 19 points in the final 24 minutes, including three in the entire third quarter and six in the fourth.

Napavine will wrap up a stretch of three games in four days at home against Winlock on Saturday. The Tigers will then open next week with a home showdown against second-place Toutle Lake on Wednesday.
