Tigers Put Up 41 in Second Quarter in Win Against Rockets

Posted

Putting up gaudy numbers of late, the No. 9 Napavine boys basketball team scored 41 points in the second frame to outpace 1A Castle Rock Wednesday afternoon on the road, 92-46.

After James Grose’s 45-point, record-breaking performance against Willapa Valley on Tuesday, the Tigers were a bit more balanced in Wednesday’s win, with Jarin Prather scoring 31 points — all in the first half — on 7 of 9 shooting from 3-point land, while Grose poured in 22 points on six 3-pointers.

Napavine made a blistering 52% of its 3-point attempts against the Rockets, en route to the dominant win. Cael Stanley had two points and 10 assists, and Karsen Denault scored 12 points to go along with five rebounds.

The Tigers’ 41 points in one quarter is a school record, just one night after Grose broke the single-game individual record for points in a game.

Napavine will look to continue its hot streak against 2A Rochester at home on Friday.
