Tigers offense rights ship in sweep of Timberwolves

The Napavine softball bounced back from a shutout loss on Monday, scoring in bunches in a doubleheader sweep of Morton-White Pass. The Tigers took the first game, a league contest, 24-9 in three innings, and took the second, non-league matchup 19-10 in a full seven.

In Game 1, the Timberwolves (1-9, 1-4 C2BL) took a two-run lead in the first, but the Tigers (7-2, 2-1 C2BL) responded with a whopping 23 runs in the bottom half.

The MWP offense continued to have success, but the gap was just too much.

Lyla Kirkpatrick and Hannah Fay both hit home runs, while Clara Fay and Hayden Kaut went 3 for 3 with a pair of RBIs.

Keegan Ingalsbe and Abigail Sympson brought home a pair each for Morton-White Pass, and Ryelin Wiedenmann went 2 for 2 with an RBI of her own.

The T-Wolves got off to an even better start in Game 2, scoring eight in the top of the first, but the Tigers scored five in the first and three in the second to tie the game.

Eleven more runs across the third and fourth was more than enough for Napavine to clinch the sweep.

Kirkpatrick and Kaut each tallied two more hits and three RBIs, while Taylen Evander went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles and drove in a run. Hannah Fay pitched the final three and a third and didn’t allow a hit, and she struck out three.

Alyssa Kampa brought home two while going 2 for 3 with a double for MWP, and Katie Jordan collected three RBIs.

Napavine will head to Mossyrock for a non-league matchup on Friday, and Morton-White Pass will head south for a league game against Kalama on Thursday.
