The Centralia High School softball team recorded a triple-double linescore of 14 runs, 12 hits and 11 errors, but couldn’t record a victory in falling to Shelton 15-14 on the road to open Evergreen Conference play on Wednesday.
It was a game that had plenty of action with 26 total hits and 16 errors. Centralia (2-2, 0-1 EvCo) was a strike away from coming away with a victory, but Shelton’s Makayla Lee took a full count pitch into left field to score the game-winning run in the seventh.
The Tigers grabbed a 5-0 lead out of the gates with three runs coming home on an outfield error. They plated seven in the fourth thanks to four straight singles – the last two RBI knocks from Antonia Saucedo and Makenzie Erickson – then two more run-scoring hits, an error and a fielder’s choice.
Shelton didn’t go away quietly with three runs in the fifth and a four-spot in the sixth. For the Tigers, their top four hitters of Saucedo, Erickson, Brooklyn Sprague and Adrianne Lynch all had two hits and totaled seven RBIs and seven runs scored.
Centralia will take on Raymond/South Bend on Thursday at home in a rescheduled non-league tussle.
