The Centralia boys basketball team lost its second game in a three-day slate in Bellingham on Friday, falling 52-38 to Squalicum at the Meridian Trojan Storm tournament.

“They were a tough, physical team who would be competing at the top of our league,” Centralia coach Kyle Donahue said.

Cohen Ballard led the Tigers with 13 points, with Landen Jenkins right behind him at 12. Ballard also had seven rebounds and three assists, while Jenkins added five boards and three blocks.

Centralia only managed to hit double digits in one of the four quarters, but stayed within striking distance just about the whole way. Sqalicum led by five points midway through the fourth, before going on a quick 6-0 run on the back of two 3-pointers that put things out of reach.

“We played really solid defense,” Donahue said. “We should a lot of resilience and showed up to compete.”

The Tigers will get one more matchup up north Saturday.
