The Centralia girls basketball team dropped its first contest of the winter Tuesday, losing 65-29 to 3A Yelm.
The Tigers (0-1) were led by Payton Baumel, Brooklyn Sprague and Makayla Chavez, who all scored six points. Gracie Schofield added four.
Centralia kept things close in the first quarter while Yelm went to work from the outside, hitting four 3-pointers. But the Tornados turned it up a notch in the second to take a 32-14 lead into the break, and then went on a 23-8 run in the third.
Centralia will go the other way on the classification ladder Wednesday with a road trip to Raymond to face 2B Raymond-South Bend.
