Tigers destroy Cardinals to remain unbeaten

The Napavine boys basketball team’s win streak is up to 15 games, as the Tigers dismantled Winlock in an 80-23 win on Saturday.

It was all Tigers (15-0, 8-0 C2BL) right from the opening tip, as they raced out a 32-3 lead in the first quarter.

The Winlock (1-11, 0-9 C2BL) offense had its best quarter in the second, but the Tigers still extended their lead to 36 at the break.

Napavine’s defense continued to shut down Winlock in the second half, and at one point they led by as much as 59.

Eleven different Tigers got on the scoresheet, including four in double-figures, James Grose inched closer to 2,000 career points with 19, Karsen Denault scored 11, and Cal Bullock and Jarin Prather added 10 each.

Brody Landram led the Tigers with eight rebounds and four assists.

Landen Cline led the Cardinals with six points, Lincoln Ruiz and Freddy Patching added five each, and Mason Ruiz scored four.

The Tigers are back at home on Wednesday against Toutle Lake, while the Cardinals are also in action on Wednesday in Morton.
