The Centralia girls golf team topped Rochester 61-37 on Monday at Riverside Golf Course.

Tess McMurry led the Tigers with 18 points, while Emily Wilkerson scored 15. Lily Ferch was next up with 13, while Emma Fitzgerald and Corin Meek combined for 15.

Izzy Masias led the Warriors with 18 points, while Audrey Williams scored 14. Mallory Gilbert and Addie Nef combined to score five points.

Centralia coach Hal Gronseth has been pleased with the Tigers’ growth over their four matches, and he got even more excited when noting how much more room they have to improve.

“Tess, Emily, and Lily have just been consistent,” Gronseth said. “It’s really fun to see how they’ve improved, and I think the most exciting thing is that they know how much they can improve.”

In addition to the girls, Gronseth credited volunteer assistant Ray Jaques, who he said has made a huge impact on the team so far this spring.

The Tigers are right back at it at Riverside again on Tuesday against Aberdeen, while the Warriors are off until April 10, when they’ll head to Newaukum Valley to take on W.F. West.
