Tigers Capture Third-Straight Victory

Makensee Taliaferro Bouge notched a brace and Napavine cruised past South Bend, 3-0, on the road for its third-straight victory Wednesday.

It was a rewarding win for the Tigers, who were playing in their first league match of the season.

Eighth grader Hannah Fay lit the scoreboard up first after knocking in a penalty kick in the 19th minute after a hand ball by South Bend.

The Tigers stole South Bend’s ensuing kickoff and Taliaferro Bouge capitalized with a goal less than a minute later in the 20th. She capped off the scoring with her second goal in the 70th minute.

“South Bend has their goalie and two more players in the box at the six, so we had to use a balanced attack,” Napavine assistant coach Chris Tarabochia said.

Tarabochia praised outside back Clara Fay and center back Emma Stewart for having their best defensive performances of the season.

“They were everywhere we needed them to be,” Tarabochia said. “We’ve got young kids who are playing great for us.”

Napavine (5-1, 1-0 league) travels to North Division foe Adna on Monday.

“We have the ultimate league test Monday,” Tarabochia said.
