The Napavine volleyball team got back in the win column on Tuesday, sweeping Onalaska in a C2BL matchup 25-19, 25-10, 25-9.

The Tigers (11-2, 5-1 C2BL) got stronger as the game went along, specifically on offense, where coach Monica Dailey said they “really turned it on.”

“Our setters had a great night tonight,” Dailey said. “Just really good setter-hitter connections tonight, some really good fast-paced offense … they were having a lot of fun out there and they did a great job working together as a team.”

Dakota Hamilton had an excellent all-around night, tallying 11 kills, 10 assists and four aces. Keira O’Neill had another stellar night at the net, collecting 15 kills.

Jessie McCoy dished out 12 assists, and Emily Kang led the team with 11 digs while also serving 100 percent from the service line with nine aces. Briza Contreras was also 100 percent on the night serving.

The Loggers (4-9, 0-6 C2BL) were led by freshman Emalie Jacoby, who had 14 digs, 13 kills and three aces.

“I could not have asked more out of our freshman leader Emalie Jacoby,” Onalaska coach Susan Gordon said. “She was all over and she showed up to play hard.”

While the young Timberwolves struggled against a more experienced Napavine team, Gordon is confident that this game can be used as a building block moving forward.

“Our girls fought hard,” Gordon said. “It shows our areas we need for improvement, and this team will rise to the challenge.

On Thursday, Napavine will head to Rainier for a matchup with the Mountaineers, while the Loggers will host Adna.
