Thurston County will host a come-and-go open house on the proposed Black Lake Quarry (Littlerock) land use and rezoning amendment Monday, April 28, from 5 to 7 p.m.

The event will be held at McLane-Black Lake Fire Station 95, 5911 Black Lake Blvd. SW, Olympia.

A landowner requested a land use and rezoning amendment to change zoning of approximately 270 acres at 4741 88th Ave. SW, from residential zoning to industrial zoning. The property is currently zoned for residential at one home per 20 acres and resource use such as agriculture, mining and forestry. The proposed change to rural resource industrial would allow industrial use supporting rural resources along with some general industrial use.

The Thurston County Planning Commission is anticipated to review the amendment in June with a public hearing in July. The Board of County Commissioners will review the planning commission’s recommendation in August and will accept public testimony in an October public hearing.
