The Thurston County Public Works Department this week announced the temporary closure of book donation bins at the Waste and Recovery Center in Lacey and the drop-box facilities in Rainier and Rochester.
Discovery Books, the service provider for the bins, will no longer be servicing them “for the foreseeable future,” a news release stated, causing the temporary bin closure.
Book donations bins at all three locations are closed to the public until further notice. Thurston County residents still wishing to donate books are encouraged to retain them until a new service provider is found.
“Public Works apologizes for the inconvenience and is exploring alternative options to resume the book collection service,” the release said. “The department will provide updates as they become available.”
