Thurston County reported a decrease in COVID-19 cases as the health department tallied 557 new cases and zero deaths during the period of May 30 through June 5.
The prior week there were 716 COVID-19 cases reported and 10 deaths between May 23 and May 29.
Out of the 49,975 total county cases reported by June 6, patients who have recovered or are recovering increased to 48,911, according to the county health department.
As of June 6, the county health department reported a total of 2,378 COVID-related hospitalizations and 379 deaths in Thurston County since the start of the pandemic.
Health care workers have vaccinated 66% of the population countywide since the beginning of the pandemic, according to DOH.
In neighboring Pierce County, deaths per 100,000 population couldn’t be calculated because less than 10 people died, and new cases decreased to 258.6 per 100,000 population as of June 7, according to the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.
The total number of cases in the county reached 206,445 as of June 7, with 1,428 deaths, according to DOH.
In Washington state, as of June 7, there were 1,600,084 total confirmed cases of COVID-19, a total of 63,185 people have been hospitalized because of the illness, and 12,986 people have died, according to DOH.
Over 13.6 million vaccine doses have been administered in the state.
Nationwide, as of June 7, there were 84,636,391 total cases since the start of the pandemic. There were 1,003,925 confirmed deaths and 82.7% of Americans 5 years old and up have at least one of the vaccinations, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
New cases over the last 30 days have been on a slow upwards trajectory, while new deaths over the last 30 days are on a steady downward trend, CDC graphs indicated.
