Marie Pearson, Thurston County licensing and recording supervisor, was awarded the 2022 County Employee of the Year by the Washington State Office of Secretary of State.
“Marie served as a key stakeholder on the Address Confidentiality Program advisory council and housing task force for the past 5 years,” said Steve Hobbs, Washington Secretary of State. “Her diligence in serving on this committee was unmatched.”
The Washington Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) is designed to help people who fear for their safety maintain a confidential address. ACP prevents perpetrators from locating participants through public records such as driver licenses, voter registries and marriage records. Pearson represented county recording staff on the advisory council as they found a solution for ACP participants to own a home while keeping their name out of public record.
“Marie is a true professional,” said Mary Hall, Thurston County auditor. “She ensured the laws that protect victims of domestic violence are able to be applied efficiently in county auditor offices statewide.”
Pearson is also an active member of the Recording Standardization Committee and provided feedback to the restrictive covenants group as well as the document rejection team.
