A 26-year-old Thurston County Jail inmate is facing new charges after he allegedly injured corrections deputies in an overnight fight, Sheriff Derek Sanders said in a social media post.
Sanders said multiple corrections deputies were hurt.
Deputies responded to G-dorm overnight Sunday after the 26-year-old man, already in jail on suspicion of fourth-degree assault/domestic violence, placed another inmate in a chokehold and refused to let go.
Deputies then intervened, with one suffering a twisted knee and another getting a chipped tooth, according to Sanders. The 26-year-old man also received a black eye, Sanders said.
Sanders said the inmate will be moved to an isolated cell after he is cleared by the hospital.
The 26-year-old man was re-booked on suspicion of second-degree assault, Thurston County Jail records show.
