The Thurston County Auditor’s Office Elections Division is taking extra steps to ensure voter registration records remain accurate and up to date.
The office is mailing letters this week to thousands of registered voters, asking them to verify their voter status and addresses.
As part of this initiative, 13,543 voters who receive election mail at a different address than their residence will receive a letter asking them to confirm both addresses.
Additionally, an upcoming mailer will be sent to over 7,000 domestic and 193 international voters covered under the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act, along with 3,800 voters who will receive an email.
These mailings help ensure ballots and election materials reach voters at their correct addresses.
“This effort goes beyond our standard voter registration maintenance,” Mary Hall, Thurston County auditor, said in a news release. “We are committed to maintaining accurate voter rolls, and that requires continuous collaboration and direct engagement with voters.”
This effort is part of the everyday work the auditor’s office does to keep voter rolls up to date. In 2024, the office made almost 45,000 record updates, including more than 15,000 cancellations, the news release states.
“Voters play the most important role in keeping our registration lists accurate,” Hall said. “If you receive election mail for someone who has moved, or for a deceased voter, please notify our office.”
